According to a study carried out in Austria, there are significant gender
differences when it comes to sun protective behaviour and knowledge. Women
achieve higher knowledge scores, show higher risk awareness and perform more
sun protection while men tend to underestimate the dangers of sun exposure
without protection and report more sunburns (Moshammer et al., 2015).
